Bournemouth’s promising centre-back, Dean Huijsen, has become the focal point of an intense bidding war, with Premier League giants Liverpool and Chelsea at the forefront of the battle. The young Spanish international has caught the eye of several clubs, with a crucial detail about his £50 million release clause recently coming to light.
A report from Sky Sports on Thursday divulged that the chase to secure Huijsen’s services is fiercely competitive, with no clear indication yet as to where he might end up next season due to the widespread interest.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle, and Tottenham Hotspur have all expressed their keenness on the 20-year-old defender, with German powerhouse Bayern Munich also maintaining long-standing interest. Contrary to earlier reports suggesting Chelsea were leading the race, it has emerged they are yet to confirm their intent to meet Huijsen’s release clause terms.
Real Madrid are also keeping tabs on Huijsen, partly due to his known admiration for the club and legendary defencer Sergio Ramos. This, coupled with the enhanced details of the release clause, could potentially draw other clubs like Manchester United into the mix, especially with new insights surrounding the financial structure.
Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg revealed on platform X that the release clause includes a unique arrangement – the price does not have to be paid in one lump sum but can instead be settled through three instalments. This clause configuration makes the transfer more feasible for a broader pool of top clubs. “All interested parties have been made aware,” Plettenberg stated. “Discussions are ongoing with multiple suitors, and no definitive decision has been reached yet.”
Huijsen, who has delivered 27 compelling performances for Bournemouth this season, is a rising star with his future hanging in the balance as clubs vie for his signature in what promises to be a thrilling bidding war.
