Manchester United have reportedly made enquiries about acquiring the services of Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The striker appears eager to depart Goodison Park, with several clubs expressing interest in his signature.
United’s current attacking options have failed to deliver the expected firepower this season. Joshua Zirkzee has netted just three goals across 31 Premier League appearances, while Rasmus Hojlund has matched that total in 26 outings, having shown more promise in the Europa League with five goals and three assists in 10 matches. Despite these contributions, a more prolific presence up front remains a priority, prompting United to explore various options, including potential free agents Calvert-Lewin and Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy.
According to TBRFootball, Manchester United have ‘made contact’ with Calvert-Lewin, although negotiations have yet to progress beyond initial stages. There remains a possibility that the striker could become available on a free transfer this summer as Everton push to extend his current contract without much success.
The England international, despite recent struggles with form due to injuries, remains an attractive prospect due to his previous performances. He achieved double-digit goal tallies in two past Premier League campaigns, although this season he has managed just three goals in 19 starts.
Aside from United, Newcastle United have registered interest, while West Ham and Nottingham Forest have also made enquiries regarding the 28-year-old. There’s also speculation about a potential swap involving Tottenham Hotspur’s Richarlison returning to Everton. Such a move could potentially revitalise both strikers’ careers, as Richarlison previously found considerable success during his tenure at Everton, and Calvert-Lewin might equally benefit from a change of scenery.
However, it remains uncertain which club currently holds the advantage in securing Calvert-Lewin’s services.
