Manchester United stalwart has voiced his displeasure with Marcus Rashford’s recent display against Aston Villa, insisting the forward owes it to manager Ruben Amorim to deliver a better performance on the pitch. The United legend, known for his candour, did not shy away from expressing his concerns over Rashford’s form, suggesting that the player must up his game to meet the high expectations at Old Trafford.
The critique follows a rather subdued performance that left fans and pundits questioning the England international’s impact. Rashford, a pivotal figure in United’s attacking lineup, is expected to provide crucial contributions, and it seems imperative for him to respond positively to his former idol’s call for improvement.
Former Manchester United captain Bryan Robson said: “I’m talking about ex-players saying that as soon as he went to Villa, he was enjoying his football again,”
“Hold on a minute. You are so fortunate to be a football player. If I’m at Man United, I’m enjoying my football, or I should be enjoying my football, and I’m going to work hard to try and make the team successful.
“So when you go to Villa, it’s no different from playing for Man United. You try and enjoy your game and do the best you can. So there’s no excuses.”
Despite this, Robson was hopeful a rejuvenated Marcus Rashford could return to Manchester United in the summer and become a pivotal part of Ruben Amorim’s team.
