Tottenham Hotspur announced a decline in total revenue and other income to £528.2 million for the year ending June 30, 2024, down from £549.6 million the previous year. The fall was attributed to the absence of European competition and nine fewer home fixtures. Match receipts dropped to £105.8 million from £117.6 million, while UEFA prize money plummeted to £1.3 million from £56.2 million, reflecting their failure to qualify for Europe.
However, Spurs reported a boost in TV and media earnings, which rose from £148.1 million to £165.9 million, and commercial revenues, increasing from £227.7 million to £255.2 million. Meanwhile, operating expenses reduced to £453.6 million from £487.9 million. Profit from operations before several deductions improved slightly, although the club faced a loss of £26.2 million after accounting for depreciation, player trading, and other financial factors.
The club’s net debt climbed to £772.5 million, up from £677.4 million, with more than 90% of their £851.5 million borrowings at fixed interest rates averaging 2.79%, and some loans maturing as late as 2051.
In the club’s financial statement, Chairman Daniel Levy addressed the challenges faced. “As we publish our financial results, we currently sit 14th in the Premier League amid a testing season on the pitch,” he said. “But we are in the Europa League quarter-finals. Winning this could bring us silverware and Champions League qualification. It’s crucial we support the team during this vital period.
“Since the new stadium opened in April 2019, we’ve invested over £700 million net in players. Recruitment within our financial means is imperative. Despite being the world’s ninth richest club, spending must be sustainable long-term. Our ability to generate consistent revenue dictates our expenditure—we cannot spend beyond our means without risking the club’s financial stability. Our diversified income strategy has helped balance the reduced football revenues.
“I extend my gratitude to everyone supporting us through thick and thin. We aim to finish this season strongly and continue building for on-pitch success.”
